Job Title: Endowed Sieberling Professorship Food Engineering
Department: FAES | Food Science and Technology
We are recruiting for the
Dale A. Seiberling Professorship in Food Engineering at The Ohio State University (OSU), College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. The holder must be an internationally recognized scientist with an established record of published research and scholarship. The successful candidate will be a 9-month, full-time, tenured associate, or full tenured professor in a vibrant scholarly research program with an exemplary teaching, research, and outreach portfolio, and will inspire new and existing collaborations.
The faculty member in this position will have appointments in the Department of Food Science and Technology (FST), 60%, and the Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering (FABE) 40%, and will have teaching responsibilities, as well as opportunities to advise graduate students in both administrative units. The Department of Food Science and Technology is the tenure home. Our aim is to recruit, support, and retain a scholar that will become an integral part of our joint academic programs. To that end, we encourage applications from scholars whose Research, Teaching and Outreach, cultivate learning environments that are equitable and inclusive of students with diverse social identities and backgrounds.
Performance Objectives The Successful Candidate Is Expected To: - Be a nationally and internationally recognized Food Engineer with strong academic experience.
- Be a leader in the academic and research fields of Food Science and Engineering
- Have an excellent record of scholarship.
- Have relevant industry experience or documented collaborations with industry.
- Show evidence for an independent research program including presenting research results at national and international meetings, securing extramural funding, and producing impactful publications.
- Advise and mentor graduate students.
- Work collaboratively with university faculty and staff, government agencies, industry partners around the State of Ohio and community groups to advance the land grant mission of the college and university.
- Teach academic courses.
Education And Experience Requirements The Seiberling Professor is expected to provide leadership in Food Science and Engineering.
Required: - A Ph.D. is required, with at least one degree in Engineering.
- A record of collaborations with the food industry.
- An international reputation for advancing knowledge in food engineering.
- An outstanding record of scholarly accomplishments.
- Excellence in teaching, research, and outreach.
- A record of extramural awards and ability to collaborate.

Department/School Information The position holds a joint appointment in the Department of Food Science and Technology and the Department of Food, Agricultural, and Biological Engineering. The Department of Food Science and Technology (FST) has one of the largest food science programs in the United States. FST offers a wide variety of specialized research programs in areas such as food and health, emerging novel food processing and packaging technologies, and food safety and quality programs. The Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering (FABE) is an international leader in the advancement of the science and application of engineering in systems involving food, agriculture, environment, and construction.
