Job Description

Student Complaint and Conduct Officer provides leadership, direction, policy development, implementation (to include investigative process and managing communication and recordkeeping), and evaluation of the College?s student complaint and conduct processes.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • reviews and updates policies, procedures and publications; researches and drafts policies and procedures related to student complaints and conduct

  • conducts investigations; prepares fact-finding reports to supervisors and system decision-makers

  • conducts training for members of the College community on student complaints and conduct processes; ensures appeal processes are followed; training for members of the student conduct system and for the College community on student conduct and behavior management

  • serves as the principle conduct officer and decision maker for student conduct matters

  • maintains databases of student conduct and student complaints; analyze data to identify patterns; based on data, makes recommendations for improvement in College processes/departments

  • serves on Behavior Intervention Team (BIT)/CARE team, Bias Incident Response Team (BIRT), Title IX team, and Crisis Response team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education and/or combination of education and work experience in related areas of investigations, dispute and mediation, higher education, student grievance and appeal processes.

  • Ability to articulate policies, procedures, and results to internal and external constituent groups.

  • Ability to present complex and detailed information in a manner that is intelligible to audiences of varying levels of expertise.

  • Skill and ability in maintaining equanimity, sensitivity, and judgement in the face of resistance, indifference, or hostility.

  • Experience and ability to conduct report-writing and recordkeeping responsibilities using computer software such as Microsoft Suite applications. 

  • Demonstrates an ongoing understanding of cultural fluency. Incorporates culturally responsive practices, and actively engages in antiracism professional development learning opportunities.

Current and former employees must be in good standing with Minneapolis College to be considered for the position.

Work Shift

Mondays through Fridays 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., evening hours might be occasionally needed.

Telework

This position may be eligible for partial telework per the Minneapolis College's Telework Guidelines.

Pay Range

MnSCU Academic Professional 3: $27.84 ? $40.82 hourly / $58,130 ? $85,232 annually.
